Fender Tony Franklin Fretless Precision Bass is one of the few rock bassists who is synonymous with fretless bass. Franklin is a committed Precision artist and one of the finest modern exponents of the fretless version of the instrument, with several session credits and work with Roy Harper, the Firm, Blue Murder, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and others.

The Fender Tony Franklin Fretless Precision Bass features a modern C-shaped maple neck with an unfretted ebony fingerboard, an American Series Precision Bass neck pickup, a Dimarzio Model JTM bridge pickup, and a drop-D E-string tuner to deliver his style and powerful elastic tone.

“P/J” PICKUP CONFIGURATION WITH DIMARZIO MODEL J™

This bass has a tonally diverse “P/J” pickup system, which consists of a pummeling split single-coil Precision Bass® middle pickup and a snarling Jazz Bass® bridge pickup. Hex-screw pole pieces and ceramic bar magnets are used in the Dimarzio Model JTM single-coil bridge pickup.

NITROCELLULOSE LACQUER FINISH

Nitrocellulose lacquer is a wonderful original-era Fender electric guitar finish that is still utilized on select guitars today. It’s a premium finish that’s thin, porous, and delicate, with acoustic attributes that let body woods breathe with their genuine tonal character and an appearance that matures and wears in a particular way that appeals to many players.

FRETLESS EBONY FINGERBOARD WITH NO FRET MARKERS

Nothing beats the slick, fluid, and elastic tone of a fretless bass. Tony Franklin’s Signature Precision Bass includes a lovely ebony fingerboard with no fret marking lines (side dots only), which has been a distinctly traditional Fender sound since the early 1970s.

THREE-WAY BLADE PICKUP SWITCH

Because it’s a dual-pickup instrument, Tony Franklin’s signature Precision model features a three-way blade pickup switch that gives you each pickup individually or both of them together.

HIPSHOT DROP-D TUNER

The Tony Franklin Fretless Precision Bass’s E-string tuning machine incorporates a Hipshot® drop-D mechanism that allows you to de-tune swiftly and accurately with the flip of a lever.

SIGNATURE-STAMPED NECK PLATE

In an extra-personalized touch, the neck plate of the Tony Franklin Fretless Precision Bass is engraved with his signature.
