Fender American Vintage Ii 1954 Precision Bass

The Fender American Vintage Ii 1954 Precision Bass is a stunning recreation of the innovative designs that changed the direction of musical history. Each instrument maintains the essence of true Fender craftsmanship and tone, with period-accurate bodies, necks, and hardware, premium finishes, and meticulously voiced, year-specific pickups.

The Fender American Vintage Ii 1954 Precision Bass, the world’s first electric bass, symbolizes one of music’s most significant developments. Bassists now had access to a portable, perfectly intonated, amplified instrument for the first time. The great Quincy Jones said the Fender bass as “…the one technological breakthrough that changed music forever.”

Although it initially shared many design cues with the Telecaster®, such as an enlarged Tele® headstock, slab body, and chrome control plate, by 1954, the P-Bass® had been upgraded with the newly introduced Stratocaster®’s sweeping curves and curved edges.

The American Vintage II 1954 Precision Bass replicates the iconic tone and feel of the original and is available in two colors over ash: Vintage Blonde and 2-Color Sunburst, both with a single-ply white pickguard.

A big ’54 “C”-shape maple neck with a 7.25″ radius fingerboard and vintage tall frets are also significant features. Classic Fender thump and style are delivered by the Pure Vintage 2-saddle bridge with fiber saddles, reverse open-gear tuners, finger rest, and ’54 Single-Coil Precision Bass® pickup.

The American Vintage II line instruments are direct ancestors of the original Fenders: created for players who appreciate vintage Fender tone and feel, and crafted with unrivaled quality down to the last screw. These are Fender electrics in their purest form: the legendary Fender American Vintage II.

Fender American Vintage Ii 1954 Precision Bass Highlights

GLOSS NITROCELLULOSE LACQUER FINISH

Nitrocellulose lacquer, as used on ‘50s and ‘60’s Fender instruments, is a premium finish that reveals the instrument’s true tonal character.

ASH BODY

Ash is a warm-toned wood with clear, bright highs, defined midrange, and a beautiful grain pattern.

7.25” RADIUS MAPLE FINGERBOARD

The 7.25”-radius fingerboard provides the comfortable playing feel of a vintage instrument, while vintage-tall frets make it easier to bend notes without fretting out.

1954 “C”-SHAPE NECK

The form and thickness of Fender guitar necks evolved greatly over the years. The American Vintage II Series features a selection of original Fender neck profiles from the past.

PURE VINTAGE ’54 SINGLE-COIL PRECISION BASS® PICKUP

Pure Vintage pickups are built in the same way as pickups from Fender’s golden years, and are specially voiced to mimic the true sound and performance of certain model years. Cloth-covered wire, fiber bobbins, and alnico magnets are among the materials used.

VINTAGE-STYLE HARDWARE

From the bridge to the string tree and tuning machines, every piece of American Vintage II hardware is designed to look, sound, and function exactly like it did on the originals. Much of the American Vintage II hardware is still manufactured on the original ’50s and ’60s era Fender factory machines.
