To enhance the high end, the Vintage Tone Selector engages a capacitor in the treble pickup circuit. When pressed in, the typical 4003 sound is heard; draw it out to add bite and sharpness. The Rickenbacker 4003 Mapleglo is made of high-quality maple. Maple is incredibly stable, which helps to maintain the structural integrity of the neck, which runs the length of the body.

The instrument’s legendary bite and growl are partly due to the density of maple and the neck-through construction. The large rosewood fingerboard offers warmth and harmonic complexity, counterbalancing the brilliant top end with powerful, rich bass.

The Rickenbacker 4003 Mapleglo bass has two output jacks. The first is a traditional mono output. The second is a stereo Rick-O-Sound output, which sends distinct signals from both pickups. Why should your guitarist and keyboardist have all the fun? Just consider the possibilities!

You could connect the neck and bridge pickups to different amps. Pan the pickups to the left and right. To create immersive stereo soundscapes, use different effects pedals in each signal route. You’re no longer limited to only holding down the bottom end with the Rickenbacker 4003.
