Rickenbacker 4003 Mapleglo
“Roundabout.” Many of the musicians here at Midwest Guitar Center remember the sound of that classic Yes bass line: an early-1960s Rickenbacker strung with roundwounds and played with a heavy-gauge nylon pick.
Rickenbacker basses, with their punchy treble, robust bottom end, and ringing sustain, helped shape the sound of classic rock in the skillful hands of progressive bassists like Chris Squire, Paul McCartney, and Geddy Lee.
There’s only one way to get that legendary sound. Today’s powerful Rickenbacker 4003 Mapleglo delivers those inimitable bass tones, as well as stereo output, in a streamlined instrument ready for the new millennium.
All-maple construction for iconic sustain and treble punch
The Rickenbacker 4003 Mapleglo is made of high-quality maple. Maple is incredibly stable, which helps to maintain the structural integrity of the neck, which runs the length of the body.
The instrument’s legendary bite and growl are partly due to the density of maple and the neck-through construction. The large rosewood fingerboard offers warmth and harmonic complexity, counterbalancing the brilliant top end with powerful, rich bass.

Stereo Rick-O-Sound output opens up a palette of sonic possibilities
The Rickenbacker 4003 Mapleglo bass has two output jacks. The first is a traditional mono output. The second is a stereo Rick-O-Sound output, which sends distinct signals from both pickups. Why should your guitarist and keyboardist have all the fun? Just consider the possibilities!
You could connect the neck and bridge pickups to different amps. Pan the pickups to the left and right. To create immersive stereo soundscapes, use different effects pedals in each signal route. You’re no longer limited to only holding down the bottom end with the Rickenbacker 4003.
A potent sonic elixir
The 4003’s powerful sonic elixir is provided via two single-coil pickups, mono/stereo output, and push-pull vintage/modern voicing for incredible tonal diversity. The 4003’s unusual body shape gives it the classic Rickenbacker bass appearance and feel, whether you’re sitting or standing. With the Rickenbacker 4003 bass, you can create your own renowned sound.
