An iconic solidbody

Rickenbacker may have been the first electric guitar company to release a solidbody model with the “Frying Pan” lap steel. With the arrival of rock ‘n’ roll, however, came this 620 solidbody electric guitar.

The “Cresting Wave” body form of the Rickenbacker 620 Fireglo was popular with many guitarists at the time, and demand for the guitar hasn’t dwindled since. Sweetwater guitarists are overjoyed to be able to offer you the same guitars seen in the hands of some of music’s biggest personalities.

All-maple construction

The Rickenbacker 620 Fireglo solidbody electric guitar is made entirely of high-grade maple, with the exception of the fretboard. The dense density of maple lends endurance and top-end clarity to the tone.

It’s also quite stable, which helps to keep the 620’s neck structurally sound. The rosewood fretboard gives warmth and harmonic richness to the otherwise brilliant instrument, and the triangular pearloid inlays contrast beautifully with its chocolaty hues.

Powerful electronics

The company’s patented electronics are the heart and soul of all Rickenbackers. The Rickenbacker Hi-gain single-coil pickups in the 620 electric guitar give the stringiness of many other single-coils but with an aggressive cut that brings out the full jangle and chime that has driven so many rhythm and lead guitar records over the decades.

The two pickups may be blended to your desired settings using a 5-knob control arrangement. Rickenbacker also included two output connectors on the 620. The first is a traditional mono output. The second is a stereo Rick-O-Sound output, which sends separate signals from both pickups.

Just consider the possibilities! For bass definition, put your 360’s neck pickup into a clean American tweed, and your bridge pickup into an overdriven British stack for noisy tube grit. This is also an excellent alternative for studio performers. You can get a quick stereo track with only one performance by delivering one signal to two sources.
